Dunoon Pier

Dunoon Pier

Dunoon Pier is the town's Victorian pier, completed in its current form in 1898 and still reaching out into the Firth of Clyde right in the centre of town. It's owned by Argyll and Bute Council and remains the arrival point for the passenger ferry from Gourock.

For over a century it was famous as a stop for Clyde paddle steamers, and it played a big part in Dunoon's heyday as a Victorian seaside resort - a history well covered at nearby Castle House Museum.

Today it's still a working pier and a natural focal point for a walk along the esplanade, with views across the water to Gourock and the wider Firth of Clyde.
