George H. Currie Blacksmiths & Forgemasters
George H. Currie Blacksmiths & Forgemasters have been forging metal at Vulcan Place in Sandbank, near Dunoon, since 1851, making them one of the oldest family-run businesses in Scotland.
The firm, now run by the fourth, fifth and sixth generations of the Currie family, offers traditional blacksmithing alongside modern fabricated steelwork, MIG/TIG/stick welding, security grilles and gates, and diamond drilling.
They made the new Victorian-style entrance gates for the refurbished Dunoon Pier and regularly carry out repair and restoration work on listed ironwork across the area.
