Tide & Thyme, Kames
Tide & Thyme is a small, cosy bistro in Kames, Tighnabruaich, run by Marie and Lauren Burke, with Marie as the self-taught chef. In 2025 it was named one of the Good Food Guide’s 100 best local restaurants in the UK.
The menus change often and make the most of local produce from the Cowal Peninsula, with modern Scottish dishes alongside flavours from around the world, such as Korean gochujang calamari or Sri Lankan vegetable curry, plus vegan options. Themed nights and takeaway evenings are announced on Facebook, and the bistro also offers private catering and functions.
