1. The Promoter
1.1 The Promoter is Alan Livingstone trading as Highland Stores, of 152/156 Argyll Street, Dunoon PA23 7NA.
1.2 By entering, you agree to these terms and conditions ("Terms"). Please keep a copy.
2. Who can enter
2.1 The Draw is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over at the time of entry.
2.2 Employees of the Promoter, their immediate families and anyone else professionally connected with the Draw may not enter.
2.3 We may ask any entrant or winner for proof of age, identity and residence. If this is not provided, or the entrant is not eligible, the entry will be void.
3. The Draw is free – no purchase necessary
3.1 Entry is free. You do not need to buy anything to enter, and making a purchase does not increase your chance of winning.
3.2 All entry methods in clause 5 are equally easy to use and all valid entries have exactly the same chance of being drawn.
4. Draw periods and closing dates
4.1 The Draw runs monthly. Each calendar month is a separate draw ("Draw Period"), starting at 00:01 on the first day of the month and closing at 23:59 (UK time) on the 29th of the month (27th in February).
4.2 The first Draw Period begins on the 1st of November 2026. The Draw will continue monthly until the 1st of April 2027. Any Draw Period already open when notice is given will run to its closing date as normal.
4.3 Entries received after the closing date of a Draw Period will not be carried forward to the next month. You must enter again each month.
5. How to enter (including the competition questions)
5.1 Each month we will publish six simple questions on our website.
5.2 To enter, give your answer to the questions using the form on the competition page of the directory.
5.3 Only entries with the correct answer to the questions go into the random draw. The correct answers for each month will be published with the winner's details.
5.4 One entry per person per Draw Period. Further entries from the same person in that month will be disqualified. Entries made in bulk, through third parties or by automated means are void.
5.5 Entries that are incomplete, illegible, late or that do not comply with these Terms will be void. We are not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed or not received for reasons outside our control. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
6. The prize
6.1 Each Draw Period there is one prize of £100 of Dunoon Gift Cards. The Prize will be awarded every month.
6.2 The gift cards are subject to the issuer's own terms, including any expiry date.
6.3 There is no cash alternative. The Prize is not transferable and cannot be exchanged.
6.4 If the Prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside our control, we will provide a prize of equal or greater value.
7. Choosing the winner
7.1 Within 7 days of the closing date, one winner will be picked at random from all correct, valid entries received in that Draw Period, by a person independent of the Promoter or a verifiable random selection method under the supervision of an independent person.
7.2 All valid entries received by every entry route are combined into one draw.
8. Notifying and claiming the Prize
8.1 We will contact the winner within 7 days of the draw by email / phone from our official account only. We will never ask the winner to pay anything or to give bank details to claim a prize.
8.2 The winner must respond within 14 days of being contacted. If they do not, or they are ineligible, we may draw an alternative winner from that month's correct entries in the same way.
8.3 The Prize will be available to collect in store at Highland Stores within 2 days of the winner's acceptance. Claiming the Prize is free of charge.
9. Publicity and winner details
9.1 We will publish the winner's first name, surname initial and county on our web address within 30 days of the draw, or provide these details on request to anyone who writes to us at the address in clause 1.1 within one month of the closing date. A winner who objects to this may ask us not to publish their details, but we may still have to share them with the Advertising Standards Authority if asked.
9.2 Any further publicity such as photographs is optional and only with the winner's agreement.
10. Your personal data
10.1 We will use entrants' details only to run the Draw, contact the winner and deliver the Prize, in line with UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
10.2 We will not use your details for marketing unless you separately opt in. Entry details will be deleted 3 months after the end of each Draw Period, except for the winner's details, which we keep for 6 months to show the Prize was awarded.
11. Social media
11.1 This Draw is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Instagram, Meta or any other social media platform. Entrants release those platforms from all liability.
12. General
12.1 We may disqualify any entrant we reasonably believe has breached these Terms, tampered with the entry process or acted fraudulently.
12.2 We will only change these Terms during a Draw Period in exceptional circumstances outside our control, and will not change them in a way that disadvantages existing entrants. Any change will be published at www.dunoondirectory.co.uk
12.3 Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12.4 Our decision on all matters relating to the Draw is final, but this does not affect your statutory rights.
12.5 These Terms are governed by the law of Scotland and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
