Argyll Forest Park

Argyll Forest Park

Argyll Forest Park covers a huge swathe of the Cowal Peninsula - over 21,000 hectares - and was the very first forest park to be created anywhere in the UK, back in 1935. It's managed today by Forestry and Land Scotland.

It stretches from the Holy Loch in the south up towards the Arrochar Alps in the north, taking in everything from high peaks to freshwater and sea lochs, and includes many of the area's best-known woodland walks, such as Puck's Glen and the trails around Glenbranter.

Much of the park falls within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, and it remains a hugely popular destination for walking, cycling and simply enjoying the scenery of Cowal's hills and forests.
