Benmore Botanic Garden
Benmore Botanic Garden, a specialist outstation of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, sits in a spectacular 120-acre site a few miles north of Dunoon on the road towards Loch Eck. It's famed for its avenue of giant redwoods, planted around 160 years ago, which greets visitors at the entrance.
The garden holds a world-renowned collection of plants from the Himalayas, China, Japan and the Americas, with over 300 species of rhododendron, a restored Victorian fernery, and viewpoints looking out over the surrounding hills and Holy Loch.
It's a genuinely special day out for garden lovers and families alike, with plenty of wildlife to spot and a strong ongoing focus on plant conservation.
