Castle House Museum
Castle House Museum
Castle House Museum sits in Castle Gardens right in the middle of Dunoon, with lovely views over the Victorian pier and the Castle Hill flagpole. It tells the story of Dunoon and the wider Cowal Peninsula from Neolithic times right through both World Wars.
Inside you'll find reconstructed Victorian rooms, photo archives, interactive exhibits for children, and displays on local history including Clan Lamont and Robert Burns' 'Highland Mary', whose statue also stands in the gardens outside.
It's a 4-star VisitScotland-rated museum, run as an independent charity, with a small gift shop, wheelchair access, parking and free wifi - open seasonally from around Easter through to October.
